A fan pulls stale or humid air from a room and discharges it outdoors through a duct.

An exhaust fan is part of an air path, not just a grille. Long duct runs and bends add resistance and can reduce delivered airflow. Bathroom ventilation removes moisture at the source; kitchen extraction has different grease and fire-safety requirements.

Example application

A quiet fan with a nominal high airflow may underperform through a restrictive duct. Compare its rated performance at the installed static pressure, termination location and sound rating.

Installation and ownership
